Subject
Gude Drive Maintenance Facility Improvements

Recommendation
Participate in presentation of updated proposals for the Gude Drive Maintenance Facility Improvements Project. Participate in a tour of the facility at 14625 Rothgeb Drive, 20850.

Discussion
The Gude Drive Maintenance Facility opened in 1970, nearly 40 years ago. Since that time, the size of the staff working from the complex has more than doubled in number; the amount of vehicles and equipment housed and serviced at the complex has grown by a like amount. Facilities have been added including the vehicle wash, the small engine repair shop, and the trailers that house the Parks and Facilities staff. Last year, the salt dome was replaced and the stormwater management was brought up to modern standards, as part of the Phase 1 work of this project. But the major facilities, the Fleet Services Building, the Stock Room, and the staff offices have not been significantly altered or modernized in 40 years.

Phases 2 and 3 of this project are being designed to meet the overall goal of bringing the complex up to 21st century standards and providing a model, sustainable, environmentally-friendly complex.

The Concept Design and Design Development phases for the Gude Drive Maintenance Facility Improvements Project are underway, with assistance from Architectural/Engineering consultants, Wheeler Goodman and Masek. Updated proposals for the project will be presented, including budget estimates for two planned phases. Following the presentation, the Mayor and Council, staff and consultants will tour the Gude Drive Maintenance Facility.
