Recommendation
Consider renewing the City Manager's contract for a three-year term beginning December 2, 2010, and proceed as stated in the Next Steps section of this report.

Discussion
The City Manager's current three-year contract expires December 2, 2010.

Mayor and Council History
At its June 7, 2010 meeting, the Mayor and Council directed the City Manager to return with a proposal for a three-year contract extension. The proposed contract is attached in "red-line" format. All terms remain the same as in the current contract approved in 2007, except the salary is updated to show the current salary amount, and the dates for the term of the contract are changed to effect a three-year extension.

Next Steps
If the Mayor and Council desires to approve the attached agreement as proposed, then direction can be given to execute the agreement. If, however, the Mayor and Council desires to renegotiate or discuss any substantive terms of this proposed agreement, an Executive Session should be scheduled for that purpose.
