Proclamation declaring August 4, 2009 as National Night Out
Recommendation
Read and present Proclamation. Ms. Christine McCord of Calvin Park Neighborhood Watch, and Ms. Ann Barnhill of The West End Group, will accept the proclamation.

| Tuesday, August 4, 2009 is the 26th annual National Night Out (NNO), a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW). Neighborhood Watch groups in Rockville will join forces with thousands of other communities across the country to: heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized to fight crime through community awareness. National Night Out has proven to be an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program to promote neighborhood and police-community partnerships in our fight for a safer Rockville. The benefits the City will derive from NNO will most certainly extend well beyond the one night. |
