Award of contract for the purchase of floor coverings, replace, furnish and install through Fairfax County Contract RQ08-972529-22A for the period through July 31, 2013 in an aggregate amount not to exceed $180,000
Mayor and Council award Fairfax County rider contract RQ08-972529-22A to Commercial Carpets of America of Alexandria, Virginia in an aggregate amount not to exceed $180,000 through July 31, 2013.
Immediate use of this contract will be for the replacement of a gymnasium floor at Lincoln Park Community Center and the replacement of flooring at the Senior Center at a combined cost of $82,925.05. This amount, coupled with prior uses of this contract, brings the contract amount in excess of $100,000:

Mayor and Council History
This is the first time this item has been brought before the Mayor and Council.
This award is a rider off a competitively bid contract from Fairfax County.
In accordance with Section 17-71(b) of the Rockville City Code, Cooperative Procurement, the City may contract with any contractor who offers goods, services, insurance or construction on the same terms as provided to other State or local governments or agencies thereof who have arrived at those terms through a competitive procurement procedure similar to the procedure used by the City.
In accordance with Section 17-39(a) of the Rockville City Code, Awarding Authority, all contracts involving more than one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000.00) shall be awarded by the Council.
Funds for replacement of the gymnasium floor at Lincoln Park Community Center are available in the FY 2013 Capital Improvements Program (CIP) account 420-900-3E61-0426. Funds for replacement of the carpet and tiles at the Senior Center are available in the FY 2013 Capital Improvements Program (CIP) account 420-900-1D67-0426.
Continuation of the contract beyond June 30, 2013 (one month) is subject to appropriation by the Mayor and Council.
